About Me!
My name is Emma Olin and I am a Christian artist. I graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design with minors in Studio and Digital Art and Computer Science. I am currently working as Ascent Church's Creative Intern in Virginia.
I have loved art since I was a kid but began to focus on painting when I was 12. However, I never thought about pursuing a career in art because I had wanted to work in Information Technology like my dad. During my junior year of high school, I started a club with a group of friends and was put in charge of anything art-related. I designed posts for our social media account and posters to put around the school and realized that I loved making digital art. It combined my love of art and computers in one area. I began looking into Graphic Design and knew that it was exactly what I should major in, and chose to minor in Computer Science.
Throughout my studies at Liberty, I have developed a strong foundation in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, as well as branding and web design. With classes like Vector Illustration, Typography, and Digital Imaging, I have gained the technical and artistic skills necessary to succeed in the graphic design industry. On my own time, I grew confident in Procreate and drawing on my iPad and Wacom Tablet. While I enjoy creating digital artwork, traditional art remains one of my favorite ways to create. I focus on acrylic painting but also spend time with watercolor and am learning to paint with oils and gouache.
I have been a Christian my whole life. I grew up in a Christian household with parents who are strong in their faith and taught my siblings and I how we were to live like Jesus. My faith is the main priority in my life. My relationship with God and my faith is important to me; my family and loved ones are also priorities to me. Without trust in God and my loved ones’ support throughout my life and college career, I would not have made it this far. I thank God every day for the people He blessed me with when He placed them in my life.
Through co-founding the Yellow Oak Club, I have gained leadership experience and refined my abilities to create engaging content to raise awareness in our community. Through my previous jobs, I acquired skills in adaptability, teamwork, and problem-solving. I thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments and value exchanging feedback on work. Designing content that encourages people in their walk with Christ, highlights ministry stories, and fosters church engagement motivates me. More than just gaining experience, I want to grow as a leader and a designer, invest in the creative team, and develop the character and discipline necessary to thrive in the design industry.
