Academic Projects

Pixie Conceptual Packaging - Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

I created conceptual packaging for a product of choice based on a character from a movie, show, video game, or book. I chose to base a hair product line on the character Jinx from the animated series Arcane. The products and packaging reflect Jinx's character through a bright color palette, graffiti-style illustrative elements and font choice. Illustrator was used for the designs and layout, and then Photoshop for the mock ups.

Brand Design - Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Collaborators: Kyleigh Holder

A partner and I chose a Christian clothing line from several design brief options for this project. Graceful Remnants is a suitable clothing brand that sells quality and Christ centered clothing. They have a mission to serve others as a reflection of God's mercy, grace, and love. Graceful Remnant's mission is to weave a tapestry of faith, sustainability, and compassion, for a brighter, more inclusive future. We used Illustrator for the designs and Photoshop for the mock ups.

Company Rebrand - Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Collaborators: Abigail Shuler, Kyleigh Holder

We were tasked with redesigning a company's brand, both a partial and full rebrand. We worked in groups, and I worked on the full rebrand for the majority of the project. We chose Lynchburg Grows, a company that provides access to healthy food for the community and bring purposeful jobs to individuals with disabilities. We used Illustrator for the designs, Photoshop for the mock ups, and HeyZine for a flipbook.

Pattern Collection - Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

I was tasked with designing three patterns, a hero, secondary and blend pattern. I chose to design bees and the natural patterns that associate with them like honeycombs and their wings. The target audience for my patterns are mothers with young children and babies. I used mock ups that display different baby bedsheets and a tote bag. I used Illustrator for the initial design and patterns, and Photoshop for the mock ups.

Editorial Illustration - Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

I designed an illustration that represents the article "How Contemporary Christian Music Explains American Christianity." The illustration displays two sides of CCM. One focused on making money, but people are still hearing about Jesus so it isn't all bad. The other side has people being led to Jesus and what happened on the cross through the music rather than being focused on money. I used Illustrator for the design and Photoshop for the mock ups.

Kindred Social Media - Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Collaborators: Harrison Method, Alexandra Davis

Our group was tasked with coming up with a campaign for a social issue that we cared about. We designed "Kindred," a service that partners with both nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Minneapolis, MN area to help fight loneliness and depression in adults 65 and older. Once we designed the guide together, we each designed an aspect for Kindred; I created social media mock ups for the campaign using Illustrator and Photoshop.

Museum Exhibit - Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Collaborator: Kyleigh Holder

With a partner, we had to create a museum exhibit for something we were interested in. We chose a colony in Roanoke that disappeared without a trace, titled "The Echoes of Roanoke." It provides the audience with historical facts and evidence of the colony, including how they came to Roanoke, and the most common theories on what may have happened to them. We used Illustrator for the designs and Photoshop for the mock ups.

Book Cover - Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

I needed to redesign a book cover and internal layout for a non-copyrighted book. I chose to redesign Pride and Prejudice. I hand drew the border for the high end book and chose to have gold foil on the cover. For the paperback, I stuck with the floral theme but kept it simple, with just a picture of wildflowers on the cover, along with the title, author's name and the picture embossed. I used Illustrator for the designs and Photoshop for the mock ups.

Flower Animation - Procreate, Adobe Photoshop

The goal of this assignment was to create an animation that was a minute long. However, since I hand drew each frame of the animation, my professor allowed it to be shorter as it took a much longer time to animate. I enjoyed this project. It took a long time to complete, but it was worth it in the end, I really love how it turned out. I used Procreate to draw and animate each frame, and then brought it into Photoshop to clean it up, add non-copyrighted music as well as save it as an MP4 and GIF.

Podcast - Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

This project was one of the first of the semester. The goal was to get us back into the mindset of designing and being back in school after a summer break. The prompt was to come up with a podcast about something we enjoyed. I could not come up with just one so I came up with a podcast that would talk about anything, based around my rambling about anything and everything I'm interested in to my friends.
